Subject: What an El Paso!
Excellent MATRIX recording. The show sounds fantastic. The band sounds great.
The acoustic guitared "El Paso" is totally awesome. Jerry's vocals on "Ramble On Rose" are sharp and his guitar work is solid throughout.
The critics have no call on this show from 1994! The whole show is just fine (except maybe "Samba" and "Corrina" [I just can't drop into anything about those two songs]). Why can't the Grateful Dead's contributions over a long span just be accepted as a great, incomparable whole body of work...or not?

Sounds like it's being played for a small group of friends. Solid performance overall. An "on" night for sure. I still say MSG was the greatest place to see the Dead. Not always the highest energy, but very knowledgable and well mannered fans with much of the East Coast pep. 18 shows between Boston and Philadelphia in 24 days. Wow!

It may be said the Dead lost a bit of spark in the music, but shows like this scream maturity as well as a collective desire to still play. The show is tight with a bit of wandering in Fire and Samba. Really though, it's only dissed when it isn't pulled off really well, but why play it safe all the time? At least they were still taking chances and much of it is quite good.

Liberty is a solid late year encore. Samba is good too and Bobby seems to love it, but man that Vinny voice (and key tone) can really be a bit too much at times. This night it's a wash, however, for he saves Attics. That's all him folks.

This recording is great. (Thanks Charlie for all the wonderful work.) The mix is fair. Jerry's guitar is light. (Really?) Vinny's keys hot. Not uncommon during this time. Who was on the boards?

Subject: For 32 minutes....all is right with the world
I first heard this Scarlet>Fire in 1994 on the Grateful Dead Hour and it has remained one of my very favorite Grateful Dead performances, from any era.

THANK YOU Mr. Seamons for breathing some much-needed life into this recording. This is one I will cherish.

Subject: great sound
Outstanding sounding source...interesting show...the Fire is 22 minutes, should have been about 14...check out 10-01-1994 for the best version of the year...the sound is 5 stars, the show is about a 3-3.5. 4 stars combined
